Becky and Michael’s Wedding

Recently I spent a beautiful sunny day over in Bournemouth and Christchurch photographing the lovely Becky and Michael for their wedding. The day was very relaxed and informal with the ceremony at the town hall, photos in the park and then photos at the stunning Christchurch Harbour in the afternoon.

Yoshi: One Man Party

The second evening of event photography for The One Eyed Dog was for the Yoshi! night featuring Steve Slingeneyer from Soulwax (also known as One Man Party). As well as the portraits and DJ photos I spent some time experimenting with long exposures with multiple flash bursts.

Brknk: ShyFX

As part of a new commission from The One Eyed Dog pub and venue in Southsea I photographed their Brknk event featuring DJ ShyFX. It was initially difficult working with a manual focus in such low light but it wasn’t too long until I was comfortable taking portraits and also some long exposures with flash.

Matt & Lynda’s Wedding

I was honoured to be asked to photograph Matt & Lynda’s wedding in Portsmouth, where they specifically wanted to have film photography, including black & white. Despite the gloomy weather it was a very happy and relaxed day from the early ceremony all the way through to the late evening’s dancing.

Compulsive Sunset

As part of my Compulsive Productions commission I had to provide images for their new business cards so Dan from Compulsive and I went down to Southsea seafront with one of their video cameras and luckily caught the sunset. With only a matter of minutes before the sun dropped below the horizon I managed to capture a roll of film of images, with one of them being selected for the final card image.

Ben & Laura’s Wedding

ContactPoint – Emma’s Story

Continuing my work with Compulsive Productions, I was on hand to photograph the premiere and awards ceremony in Worthing for Emma’s Story, a short film created by, staring and directed by young people from a collection of youth projects on the south coast. The film highlights issues around young people needing social service support and the benefits of the Contactpoint database system and the evening brought together everyone involved in the project and the parents.

Copnor School Premieres

As part of my continuing commission for Compulsive Productions I recorded their recent Copnor Junior school short films premiere at the No. 3 cinema. Compulsive had helped six groups of school children to script, perform, film and edit short films in a variety of genres and then arranged the premiere night for the children and their parents, I was on hand to document the evening.

‘Teenager’ Film

As part of a wide ranging commission for Compulsive Productions (a community film production company) I was to photograph a location film shoot for the short film ‘Teenager’. The film was scripted, crewed and acted by teenagers with the help of Compulsive and told the story of a teenager’s struggle with alcohol, drug abuse and peer pressure. My role with the production was to take film stills and to document the cast and crew behind the scenes.

Antique Fashion

ZoZo Reworked Vintage create unique items from reworked vintage garments and fabric and commissioned me to shoot a selection of outfits in a local antique shop and garden. From the start it was clear the client felt that due to the style of garments and the location it was important to have a vintage visual aesthetic with the photography and as such both 35mm film and Polaroids were used. Utilising both natural light and a selection of lenses to suit the different situations it was possible to create the final images with the required sense of age and warmth with rich natural colours, soft light and strong contrast.
